Think Monday - Think ATC

Right here we go my first attempt at a Blog Challenge, this Mondays challenge was "Lines from poems, songs or books". The line that came to my mind when I was trying to think of a starting point was "I know where it's at . . ", an All Saints song, no ideas followed this though so my next choice was Imagine by John Lennon, and "imagine all the people", lots of faces and I was ready to go.

My background of faces are virtually all from a copy of Now magazine, didnt have anything else much to use, covered them all with PVa to try and bring the gloss and famous faces down into the background that didnt work too well so rubbed some white ink over as well, then had to rub most of it off as obscured too much, was really lucky that I had a Tim Holtz tag that said Imagine, downloaded the words of the song and printed them out in a font made with my own handwriting (see this site) onto some vellum, then altered a jigsaw piece with a image of John Lennon on, inked the edge and then postitioned the pieces, hope you like it, Im just so pleased I finally managed to do a challenge.

Instead got to go in tomorrow and have a 1 2 1 on things, yee hah, I know she will really listen, NOT! At least its dress down for comic relief, though of course I work with lots of young skinny girls so thats gonna really cheer me up, supposed to wear sportswear, wonder if the trackies I slop around in at home would be suitable, HaHa! Thanks for listening, (you are arent you, Id hate to think I was talking to myself). Happy Friday to you all, Siobhan

Im actually ahead of the game on this one, large one is for my mum and the other is for the in law, hope they appreciate the work that went into them, used a Heidi Swapp mask on pages of old book, then used mixed colourbox inks to colour up, drew around flower on paper, cut out then coloured with distress inks, I think they are pretty took me a while to come up with idea.

Experimenting

These are a few ATC I made when trying out different things at home, hope you like them.

Crafty Stamper

Been busy trying out new techniques from back issues of Craft Stamper, my fave magazine.

Used October 2008 issue, page 63 to have a go at making some embellishments, was very pleased with the results on Jigsaw Pieces and I'm looking forward to using these techniques on future pieces of my own design, the dominoes was a bit more of a hit and miss, but I can only improve.

Used March 2009 issue, to have a go at brayering techniques, page 24, this was great fun and I loved the stamp they used so much I searched the web until I found it at Blade Rubber stamps, cant wait for delivery of it so that I can play, loved the colours used in this article, so rich and vibrant.

So this is my new years resolution to actually try out the techniques I admire in magazines rather than just looking at them and then filing them away for use in the (distant) future.
Seem to have lost my comment link, hope this brings it back up for you all.
